Some Notable Cases:

 

  • Currently representing Ms. Chioma Okoli. A Nigerian woman who was arrested and charged to court in November 2023, after she posted a negative review about a tomatoes puree on face-book. The case attracted national and global outrange.

 

  • Was the first Nigerian to challenge the ban on Twitter by President Buhari in court in June 2021.

 

  • Was one of the lawyers who represented victims of the Lekki Toll Gates Shooting at the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry in 2020.

 

  • Filed a law suit against the National Broadcasting Commission for arbitrarily amending the Nigeria Broadcasting Code and increasing the fine for hate speech from NGN 500,000 to NGN 5,000,000 in August 2020.

 

  • Defended four protesters in Ogun State who were arrested and charged to court for taking part in the Revolution Now protest on the 5thof August, 2019. The court dismissed the charges in October, 2019.

 

  • Sued President Buhari for failing to hand over power to Vice President Osinbajo when he (the President) embarked on a ‘private visit’ to London in April 2019.

 

  • Won a N50,000,000 (Fifty Million Naira) lawsuit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, in October 2018, in favour of Mr. Charles Oputa (Charly Boy) and others who were attacked by the Nigerian Police Force for engaging in the ‘Resume or Resign Protest’ at the Unity Fountain when President Buhari was away from Nigeria for over 100 days. The judgement was reaffirmed by the Court of Appeal.

 

  • Sued the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State in 2018 for failing to release the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the tragic collapse of the Reigners Bible Church. The governor released the report not long afterwards.

 

  • Defended the next-of-kin of late primary school teachers in Akwa-Ibom State, Nigeria, who were arrested and prosecuted for engaging in nonviolent protests for non-payment of their entitlements. The charges against them were diagnosed by the court in February 2018.

 

  • Mobilised Nigerians in defence of Mr Chinakwe, a Nigerian man who was arrested and prosecuted by the police for naming his dog Buhari. The case was dismissed in July 2017.

 

  • Has successfully defended and continues to defend many journalists, bloggers and broadcasters in Nigeria who are being sued for libel or arrested for alleged criminal defamation or cybercrime on account of their work, including Kufre Carter.
